Honor is reportedly preparing to launch its next-generation foldable, the Honor Magic V5, in June 2025. Positioned as the direct successor to last year’s Magic V3, the device is expected to break new ground in foldable technology by offering the slimmest and lightest book-style foldable form factor to date. According to Li Kun, Honor’s Product Manager, the Magic V5 could be unveiled in China by the third or fourth week of June, with a potential global debut expected at the IFA tech event in Berlin by September.

Honor is skipping the “Magic V4” branding altogether, a move believed to be influenced by tetraphobia—the cultural aversion to the number 4 in China. As a result, the company will transition directly from the Magic V3 to the V5. Alongside the V5, Honor may also introduce a clamshell-style foldable, possibly called the Magic V2 Flip, though the V5 will likely remain the centerpiece of the launch.

Honor Magic V5 Display and Design (rumored)

The Honor Magic V5 is rumored to feature an outer 6.45-inch LTPO OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, along with a larger 8-inch 2K OLED inner screen, also with 120Hz support and LTPO technology. The device aims to undercut the thickness of current competitors such as the Oppo Find N5 (8.93mm) and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 (8.9mm), with an expected folded thickness under 8.x mm.

Honor Magic V5 Performance Upgrades (rumored)

Powering the device will likely be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite, a newer 8-core version of the chip, which differentiates it from the 7-core variant found in the Find N5. The Magic V5 is expected to ship with at least 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Improvements to thermal management are also anticipated, with Honor possibly incorporating a more advanced cooling system to handle demanding workloads.

Honor Magic V5 Camera Innovations (rumored)

Camera specs point to a triple-lens setup on the rear, led by a 50MP primary sensor with OIS and a 1/1.5-inch sensor size. A standout feature is expected to be a 200MP periscope telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom. An ultra-wide lens will round out the array, though its specifications remain under wraps. Dual 20MP selfie cameras—one for the cover display and one for the main screen—will support high-quality video calling and selfies. The device may also debut new AI-based photography tools and a Fujifilm-inspired filter mode.

Honor Magic V5 Battery and Charging (rumored)

Battery capacity is another area of significant improvement. The Magic V5 is expected to feature a 6,000mAh+ dual-cell setup (2,070mAh + 3,880mAh), marking a substantial increase over the Magic V3’s 5,150mAh battery. The phone will likely support 66W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging, potentially with further optimization in charging speed due to the increased cell size.

Honor Magic V5 Additional Features (rumored)

The phone will reportedly include IPX8-rated water resistance, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and satellite connectivity for messaging in areas with limited network access. It will ship with MagicOS 9 based on Android 15, bringing advanced multitasking features and deeper AI integration. Color options at launch may include Silk Road Dunhuang—a warm, earthy tone—and Velvet Black.

Honor Magic V5 Pricing and Availability (rumored)

While Honor has yet to confirm pricing details, the Magic V3 was priced at £1,699.99 in the UK (~₹1,80,000). If the trend continues, the Magic V5 could launch in India at around ₹1,99,990. It’s unlikely to see a U.S. release, but will be targeted toward markets across Europe and Asia.

Honor Magic V5 Competitive Landscape (rumored)

The Honor Magic V5 is expected to compete directly with other premium foldables such as the Oppo Find N5, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Vivo X Fold 4. With its slim design, large battery, and high-resolution camera setup, the Magic V5 could set a new benchmark for foldable performance in 2025. Honor’s strategy suggests a renewed focus on innovation, signaling its intention to lead not just in form factor, but also in functionality and endurance.
