Toyota is once again going to add a new model to its famous Land Cruiser series. Recently, the patent design of the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ has been leaked, revealing the first glimpse of its compact and powerful off-roader avatar. This design surfaced through the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), which was seen in the Philippines and Thailand. These leaked images clearly show that Toyota is preparing a new vehicle that will be cheaper and smaller than the Fortuner and Land Cruiser Prado, but will be fully ready for off-roading.

New Toyota Land Cruiser Back Side

The SUV shown in the patent design appears in a boxy and muscular style. The thick C-pillars, flat rear section, and full-size spare wheel mounted on the tailgate give it a strong off-roader look. At the front, its rectangular grille, high bumper, and solid body cladding give it a rough and tough appeal. The design elements seen in the leaked images closely resemble the 2021 Toyota Compact Cruiser EV concept, but it features full production-ready details such as side mirrors and wraparound tail lights, indicating that the production model is nearing completion.

This SUV will come with a length of around 4,500 mm and a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, making it smaller than the Fortuner but suitable for both urban and off-road use. This vehicle will be based on Toyota’s IMV-0 ladder-frame platform, which has already been used in vehicles like the Hilux and Fortuner. This leaves no doubt about its strength and off-road capabilities.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is expected to be launched by the end of 2025 or early 2026. It is expected to be unveiled at the Tokyo Mobility Show 2025, and its production could begin in Thailand in the final months of 2025. This vehicle will target customers who want a stylish yet affordable off-roader. Through this, Toyota could directly compete with compact off-roaders like the Suzuki Jimny and Ford Bronco Sport.
