Since Tech Home shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the Huawei Mate 80 Series Active Cooling Fan patents, the entire smartphone industry has been shaken—and rightly so, because the Huawei Mate 80 might feature an Active Cooling Fan inside the camera island. That means smartphones are now coming with fans!

Tech Home recently shared a patent sketch showing a tiny cooling fan embedded inside the camera island of Huawei’s upcoming smartphone. And according to reports, this isn’t some futuristic fantasy—it could actually become a reality in the Mate 80 Series.
And it totally makes sense. These days, due to 4K video shooting, heavy processing, and AI camera features, phones tend to heat up. So Huawei thought—why not solve the problem right where it begins? Put the fan directly in the camera module.

Now the question arises—where will the air escape from? Possibly through a grill in the camera island or via micro holes placed along the edges of the phone. But the real concern is—will the phone still remain waterproof? Will IP69-like ratings even be possible with this technology?
All we can say is—Huawei has turned the impossible into possible before, and if there’s any company that can pull this off, it’s definitely Huawei. While big brands like Apple and Google are shying away from even basic cooling systems like vapor chambers, Huawei is innovating on a whole different level. On the other hand, Apple, Samsung, and Google still seem stuck in old trends.
