The 20th instalment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana has officially been released, with over ₹20,500 crore transferred directly into the bank accounts of nearly 9.7 crore farmers across India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the transfer on August 2, 2025, during an event in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, by pressing a button that credited ₹2,000 to each eligible farmer’s account.

While many beneficiaries have already received confirmation messages on their phones, several others are still unsure whether the funds have arrived. If you are among those who haven’t received a notification, it is essential to verify your status manually to confirm whether your name is included in the latest beneficiary list or if your payment has been delayed due to errors.

When Was the Payment Released and Who Received It?

On August 2nd, PM Modi released the 20th instalment as part of the ongoing PM-Kisan scheme, a flagship initiative aimed at providing income support to landholding farmers. The funds were transferred without the involvement of intermediaries or agents, ensuring complete transparency and efficiency.

Despite prior announcements, some farmers remained sceptical about the timing. However, the government maintained its schedule, and the amount has been disbursed to eligible beneficiaries as planned. That said, non-receipt of an SMS alert does not necessarily imply that the money hasn’t arrived—there could be several technical reasons behind the delay.

How to Check Your Payment Status Online

You do not need to visit a CSC centre or cyber café to check your status. Instead, simply follow these steps using your smartphone:

  1. Visit the official PM-Kisan website: https://pmkisan.gov.in
  2. Scroll to the “Farmers Corner” section.
  3. Click on “Know Your Status”.
  4. Enter your Aadhaar number, registration number, or mobile number.
  5. An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile; enter it to proceed.
  6. You’ll be able to see your current payment status—whether it has been credited, is in process, or is delayed due to an error.

Forgot your registration number? No problem. You can retrieve it by clicking on “Know Your Registration Number” from the same section.

The entire process takes less than two minutes and involves no paperwork or queues.

How to Avoid Delays in Future Instalments

Receiving this instalment does not guarantee that you will continue to receive future payments. The Ministry of Agriculture has made it mandatory for beneficiaries to complete eKYC and obtain a Farmer ID.

If you have not yet completed your eKYC or linked your Aadhaar with your bank account, you risk being excluded from the next cycle of payments. To avoid this, follow these steps:

  • Visit your nearest CSC centre or India Post office to complete eKYC verification.
  • Ensure your bank account details and Aadhaar are correctly linked.
  • New beneficiaries must also apply for their Farmer ID before the next instalment.

Any mismatch or outdated information in your records can lead to your name being dropped from the list of eligible farmers.

Conclusion

If you’re a beneficiary of the PM-Kisan scheme and have been waiting for the ₹2,000 from the 20th instalment, the time to act is now. Don’t rely solely on SMS alerts—verify your status online and take corrective action if needed. This scheme is a lifeline for millions of small and marginal farmers, offering direct financial support without middlemen.

But remember, staying up to date with your documentation and KYC is your responsibility. Negligence could result in losing out on future benefits.
