Well-known Weibo blogger Digital Chat Station has revealed that Huawei is preparing to launch a 14.2-inch OLED high-end 2-in-1 tablet alongside the Mate 80 series, According to a leak by blogger Kanshanshu, this new product will be called Huawei MatePad Edge. It will have a 14.2-inch super-large OLED screen with a soft light effect, equipped with a Kirin 9 series platform, keyboard and stylus, this tablet/computer supports dual form factor, it will be available in two versions 16+512GB and 24+1TB.

It is essential to note that, as a 2-in-1 tablet, the MatePad Edge will likely cost more than a regular tablet, with an estimated price of around 8,000 yuan (approximately ₹1 lakh) in India.

Huawei’s last 2-in-1 tablet, the MateBook E, launched in 2023. It features a 12.6-inch 120Hz OLED True Color screen with a 90% screen-to-body ratio; it’s powered by a 12th-generation Intel Core i5-1230U processor, and comes with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

Reports currently suggest that the Huawei Mate 80 series has been renamed. The Huawei Mate 80 Pro+ has been officially renamed to Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max.

Let’s find out why: According to leaks, the Pro and Pro+ versions of the Mate series previously used the same basic resolution, with the only differences primarily centered on imaging lens specifications. Ordinary Users found it difficult to distinguish between the two at a glance, and many even regretted purchasing the Pro+ after realising it wasn’t much different from the Pro. For this reason Huawei Mate 80 Pro+ has been officially renamed to Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max.

Some Weibo users have expressed their displeasure over this. One user said, “If Huawei renames the Mate 80 Pro+ to “Pro Max,” I will sell the dozen or so Huawei products I own on Xianyu (a second-hand marketplace) for a pittance. I will never touch Huawei products again and will become an anti-Huawei.”

On November 13th, a blogger leaked a photo of the Huawei Mate 80. The photo reveals that the phone will have a flat screen on the front with a triple-punch-hole front-facing camera; the back will have a symmetrical circular camera module, flanked by a strip-shaped flash. The blogger also claimed that the Huawei Mate 80 series is rumored to launch on November 25th.

Based on several leaks, the Huawei Mate 80 series is expected to include four models: the Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro Max, and Mate 80 RS Master.

Huawei’s annual flagship Mate 80 series is expected to be released later this month, with an official release date and pre-launch promotions expected next week. According to current leaks, the Huawei Mate 80 series will be the first series equipped with the Kirin 9030 processor, the first to officially release the HarmonyOS 6 version, and all models will come standard with 3D face recognition. The Pro+ model will be renamed the Pro Max. Furthermore, improvements will be made to imaging, battery life, and communication capabilities, and it will support direct satellite internet connectivity.
