Huawei has unveiled its Huawei Mate 80 Series, debuting the Huawei Mate 80, Huawei Mate 80 Pro and Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max—both featuring a standout 50-megapixel main camera, robust 5750mAh battery and Pro Max extends overall endurance with a larger 6000mAh battery, setting new standards in their segment.
The series features an aerospace-grade aluminum alloy frame with a one-piece, cold-carved glass back luminous panel, similar to the Mate 60, providing a premium in-hand feel. The new horizontal “dual ring” rear camera Deco design improves grip in both orientations and shortens the motherboard to create extra battery space.
The Huawei Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro measure 161.85mm by 76mm by 7.95mm and weigh 217 grams to 219 grams, Both come in Spruce green, dawn gold, snow white, and obsidian black, and offer IP68 and IP69 protection.
On the front, the phones use a 6.75-inch 1-120Hz LTPO OLED display with a 300Hz touch sampling rate. The screen features 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, defocus relief, sleep-aid mode, HDR, ultra-dynamic rendering, and true color accuracy. The company claimed the brightest ever on a phone, reaching up to 8,000 nits.

The Huawei Mate 80 uses the HiSilicon Kirin 9020 chipset. The Pro model is powered by Kirin 9030. Both deliver strong benchmark results. Benchmark reveals that the Kirin 9030 features a 1+4+4 CPU architecture, totalling nine cores. It comprises one core clocked at 2.75GHz, four cores at 2.27GHz, and another four running at 1.72GHz. The GPU is identified as the Maleoon 935, and the tested device is the Mate 80 Pro Max equipped with 16GB of RAM.

Both phones pack a 5,750mAh Qinghai Lake battery. The Huawei Mate 80 supports 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, while the Pro model adds 100W wired and 80W wireless charging.
In terms of cameras, the Huawei Mate 80 features a 50MP main camera with a 40MP ultra-wide macro lens, finally, a 12MP 5.5x zoom camera. The Huawei Mate 80 Pro has the same wide and ultrawide cameras and, 48MP ultra-wide lens, with a 4x or 92.5mm telephoto lens.
The 12MP front camera supports AI beautification, portrait blur, and Live passerby removal. Rear cameras can optimize Live portrait mode for both front and back simultaneously.
