PM Kisan Yojana: The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme is an important scheme launched by the Government of India, which aims to provide financial assistance to small and marginal farmers. This scheme has been created to increase the income of farmers and improve their lifestyle. Under this, the government provides a fixed amount to the farmers, so that their agriculture-related expenses can be reduced.

Objective of PM Kisan Yojana

The main objective of PM Kisan Yojana is to provide financial assistance to small farmers, so that they can meet the cost of their farming and improve their standard of living. Under this, farmers are given assistance for agricultural equipment like seeds, fertilizers, irrigation. Apart from this, this scheme helps in boosting the rural economy, as the purchasing power of farmers increases and the agriculture sector progresses.

Assistance to farmers

Under this scheme, an amount of ₹ 6000 is given to the farmers every year in three installments. This amount is deposited directly into the bank accounts of the farmers, which maintains transparency and reduces the possibility of corruption. The benefit of this scheme is available to those farmers who own agricultural land and whose total income is within a fixed limit.

Registration Process

Farmers can register online by visiting the official website of PM Kisan to avail the benefits of this scheme. Apart from this, they can also register through Gram Panchayat or Common Service Centers (CSCs). In some states, farmers can also do self-registration, for which there is a provision of kiosks in state offices.

Benefits of the scheme

  1. Financial assistance: This scheme helps farmers to buy the necessary means for agricultural work like seeds, fertilizers etc.
  2. Empowerment of women farmers: Women farmers are also getting financial literacy through this scheme and they are able to take better decisions.
  3. Farmer loan: Through this scheme, it has become easier for farmers to get loans, so that they do not depend on informal lenders. 4. Health and Education: This scheme also helps farmers to fulfill their needs like basic health services and education.

Future Improvement Directions

The PM Kisan Yojana aims to reach as many farmers as possible. Along with this, it can be linked to other government schemes like crop insurance and health protection. Apart from this, new technologies can be used to further improve the data management and registration processes of the scheme.
