Apple is reportedly preparing to enter the foldable smartphone market with its first-ever Foldable iPhone, which could launch as early as next year or by 2027. According to the latest leak, the tech giant has been working on this device for over six years, aiming to deliver a premium experience with cutting-edge technology and future-ready features.

Book-Style Foldable Design with Ultra-Slim Profile

The upcoming Foldable iPhone is expected to feature a book-style folding design. When folded, the device will measure around 9.5mm in thickness, and when unfolded, it will be just 4.8mm thick.
It will come with two displays–a 7.8-inch inner display (2713×1920 pixels, 428ppi) offering an iPad mini-like experience, and a 5.5-inch outer display (2088×1422 pixels, 460ppi). To reduce screen creases, Apple may use a self-healing coating and a liquid metal hinge that is claimed to be twice as strong as titanium alloy.

Advanced Display and Battery Technology

Apple is also upgrading the display driver chip to a 16nm process for better efficiency. The device is rumored to use a 3D stacked battery along with flexible battery technology to keep it slim while providing long-lasting power. These advancements are expected to make the Foldable iPhone both thin and power-efficient without compromising on performance.

Camera System with Under-Display Technology

In terms of imaging, the Foldable iPhone will feature a 48MP dual rear camera setup, an under-display camera for the inner screen, and a punch-hole front camera for the outer screen. Reports also suggest that Apple could replace Face ID with an under-screen Touch ID for better integration with the foldable form factor.

Expected Price

According to industry sources, the Foldable iPhone could be priced between $2000 and $2500 (approximately ₹14,36,000 to ₹17,95,000), making it significantly more expensive than the current iPhone Pro models. This pricing would place it in the ultra-premium smartphone category, targeting early adopters and tech enthusiasts.

Conclusion

Apple’s Foldable iPhone is shaping up to be a game-changer in design, display quality, and battery innovation. However, the big question remains–how will the market respond to such a premium device at this high price point?
