According to a reliable report from popular tipster SammyPolice, Samsung has registered new model numbers in the IMEI database, confirming the existence of both the Galaxy S26 Ultra and a surprising new addition – the Galaxy S26 Edge.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra appears under the model numbers SM-S938U and SM-S938N, where “U” is typically for the U.S. and “N” for the South Korean variant. More surprisingly, the Galaxy S26 Edge has been listed with the model number SM-S936U, marking the return of the ‘Edge’ branding after a long gap.
What’s missing from the list is even more telling – there’s no sign of a Galaxy S26 Plus. This strongly suggests that Samsung is planning to replace the traditional “Plus” model with the reimagined Edge variant, possibly to simplify the lineup and offer clearer distinctions between each model.
According to SammyPolice, this shift is part of Samsung’s new flagship strategy. The company seems to be streamlining its premium lineup by focusing on just the Ultra and Edge variants, making it easier for customers to choose based on performance and form factor.
Both the Galaxy S26 Ultra and S26 Edge are expected to launch in early 2026, possibly running One UI 8.5 out of the box. There are also rumors that Samsung will integrate its new Perplexity AI system into these models, boosting intelligent features and performance.
