Huawei officially kicked off the first sale of its much-awaited Pura 80 Pro and Pura 80 Pro+ smartphones on June 14. The launch saw He Gang, CEO of Huawei Terminal BG, personally delivering devices to early buyers at Huawei’s flagship store in Shanghai. Despite launching two months later than its predecessor, the Pura 80 series didn’t face major stock issues — most models were readily available both online and offline, with only a few color variants temporarily out of stock.
The Huawei Pura 80 series is Huawei’s flagship imaging lineup for 2025. The Pro variant boasts a 50MP one-inch main sensor, a 40MP ultra-wide lens, and a Maple Red color primary camera. The Pro+ steps up with a high-dynamic one-inch sensor, making it a powerhouse for mobile photography. Powered by a 12-core processor and running on Hongmeng OS 5.1, both models are priced competitively — ¥6,499 for the Pro and ¥7,999 for the Pro+.

Interestingly, Xiaomi also drew attention with its 15S Pro, featuring a self-developed Xuanjie O1 chip and improved image processing. However, stock shortages have made it hard to find. While Xiaomi benefits heavily from China’s “national subsidy”, Huawei continues to dominate the high-end segment, now second only to Apple in China’s premium market.

According to Canalys, Huawei’s market share in phones priced above $600 surged to 38%, narrowing Apple’s lead. Analysts believe the Pura 80 could help Huawei surpass Apple by Q3 2025, following the massive success of the Pura 70 series, which has reportedly sold over 13 million units.
In an increasingly competitive smartphone market, Huawei’s focus on innovation, strong offline presence, and premium camera tech positions the Pura 80 series as a game-changer.
