Huawei has finally launched its much-awaited Pura 80 series in China on June 11, 2025, and once again proved that it leads the game when it comes to premium camera technology and in-house innovation. The new lineup includes four models – Huawei Pura 80, Pura 80 Pro, Pura 80 Pro+, and the most powerful Huawei Pura 80 Ultra. All these smartphones run on HarmonyOS 5.0 and are powered by Huawei’s in-house Kirin 9020 processor, built on the 7nm process.

The Pura 80 Ultra stands out as the star model of the series in terms of camera. It features a 1-inch 50MP RYYB sensor, a periscope telephoto lens with 3.7x-9.4x optical zoom, and a 40MP ultrawide lens, combining into a dual periscope zoom system. Huawei’s Maple Original Colour Imaging 2.0 technology further enhances color rendering, making it more natural and vibrant. Both Pura 80 Pro and Pro+ are equipped with a 50MP variable aperture main sensor, 50MP telephoto, and 40MP ultrawide lenses, while the Pro+ brings even better zoom and image processing capabilities.

Coming to the displays, the Pura 80 features a 6.6-inch flat OLED panel, while the other three models sport a 6.8-inch quad-curved OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3000 nits. The Ultra model is also rumored to include a tandem OLED panel. With HarmonyOS 5.0, users will enjoy a smooth UI, advanced AI integration, and seamless multi-device connectivity – and most importantly, the entire system operates completely independent of Google’s Android.
In terms of battery, the Ultra model comes with a 5700mAh battery, supporting 100W wired and 80W wireless charging. The rest of the models pack batteries ranging between 5000-5500mAh. On the design front, Huawei once again maintains a premium feel – with a triangular camera module, glossy finish, textured camera island, and aluminum frame, giving it a striking flagship look.

The Ultra variant is also loaded with features like dual satellite connectivity, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, UFS 4.0 storage, and LPDDR5X RAM. As for pricing, the Pura 80 Pro starts at ¥6499 (approx ₹76,000), while the Ultra version starts at ¥9999 (approx ₹1,17,000). The standard Pura 80 pricing is expected to be announced in July, just before it goes on sale.
This new Pura 80 series clearly signals Huawei’s stronger grip on photography, design, and performance. Especially the Ultra model, which poses a serious challenge to heavyweights like Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. While the Kirin 9020 might lag slightly behind Qualcomm and MediaTek’s flagship chipsets in raw performance, HarmonyOS and Huawei’s innovation strategy make it a compelling choice – especially for users seeking a premium smartphone experience free from Google dependency.
