At the 828 Global Fan Festival in Shenzhen, Realme shook the tech industry with the introduction of its latest concept phone. The company showcased a smartphone with a massive 15,000mAh battery, claiming it can last up to five days on a single charge. This device was presented alongside the Realme Chill Fan Phone, setting what looks like a new benchmark in mobile technology.
Battery and Design
The concept phone is powered by a 100% silicon-anode battery with an energy density of 1200Wh/L, making it nearly three times more powerful than existing flagship smartphone batteries. Surprisingly, despite housing such a huge battery, the phone’s thickness is just 8.89mm, making it 42% thinner and 68% lighter than a power bank. Realme even claimed that its total battery power equals the combined capacity of iPhone 12 through iPhone 16 batteries.
Specifications
The device features a 6.7-inch display, MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, 12GB RAM, and 256GB storage. For charging, it supports 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging, allowing the phone to fully charge in just 2 to 2.5 hours. It also includes a dual-camera setup and a punch-hole front camera, giving it a modern look.
Technology and Challenges
While this innovation from Realme is remarkable, concerns remain regarding the battery technology. Experts suggest that silicon-anode batteries may degrade by 20–30% after around 500 charge cycles. This is why, for now, the device has been showcased only as a concept phone, with little likelihood of a commercial launch.
10000mAh Smartphone Launch in the Future
Realme also hinted at the possibility of launching a 10,000mAh battery smartphone in the future, with a potential release planned for 2026. If it happens, it could bring a major shift in the mid-range smartphone market.
