New clues from Samsung’s internal software development have revealed what could be the company’s biggest charging overhaul in years. A recent teardown of the One UI 8.5 firmware has exposed multiple new strings referencing a feature called “Super fast wireless charging,” hinting that the Galaxy S26 lineup is finally getting a long-awaited power boost.
Industry sources say this new label sits alongside Samsung’s existing wireless modes and appears to define a higher tier beyond the familiar 15W profile. While Samsung has not commented publicly, insiders suggest that the Galaxy S26 Ultra might support 25W wireless charging, with the standard S26 and S26+ likely climbing to around 20W.
The stronger wireless improvements are only half the story. Supply-chain leaks also point to Samsung enabling up to 60W to 80W PPS wired charging on the S26 Ultra—a significant leap from the company’s long-standing 45W limit. If accurate, this would represent the brand’s largest charging power jump on a flagship model since the S20 era.
Analysts estimate that the combined increase in wired and wireless speeds could raise the S26 Ultra’s overall charging efficiency by about 40%, cutting down full-charge times dramatically and reducing reliance on mid-day top-ups.
Samsung’s rivals, particularly Chinese OEMs, have already embraced aggressive charging technologies, offering wireless speeds of 50W, 80W, and even higher through proprietary systems. Samsung, by contrast, has maintained a conservative approach, keeping wireless charging capped at 15W for nearly five generations.
The newly spotted One UI 8.5 code is now being interpreted as a firm indication that Samsung intends to close the gap with its competition. If the S26 family launches with these updated specifications, it could mark the brand’s first serious move toward modernizing its charging ecosystem, and give long-time Galaxy users a reason to be optimistic heading into 2026.
