WhatsApp introduced a new and highly useful feature for its users. This feature is called ‘Remind Me’. Often, users read important messages but forget to respond due to their busy schedules. Now, this new feature could prove to be a blessing for such users.

Unlike the existing ‘Starred Messages’ or ‘Pin Chat’ features on WhatsApp, the ‘Remind Me’ option allows users to set a notification for a specific message at a chosen time. At the set time, WhatsApp will send an alert as a reminder. This functionality works not only for text messages but also for images, videos, and other media content.

Using this feature is very simple. Users need to press and hold the message they want to set a reminder for. Once selected, a bell icon will appear at the top of the chat window. Tapping on the bell icon opens a menu with four time options — two hours, eight hours, twenty-four hours, and a custom option that allows the user to select a preferred time and date. Once the set time arrives, WhatsApp will send a reminder notification, displaying the message content, chat name, and, if applicable, a preview of the media.

Currently, this feature is available to a limited number of users on WhatsApp Android Beta version 2.25.21.14. If successful, the company is expected to roll it out more widely in the stable version.

In today’s world, where message overload is common, such features have become increasingly essential. The ‘Remind Me’ feature gives users the ability to set alerts for important messages so they can respond on time. It is particularly helpful for those who often miss crucial messages due to their hectic schedules.

In addition, WhatsApp is reportedly working on another feature called ‘Quick Recap’, which will provide users with a summary of their unread chats. This will help users quickly identify important information among a large number of messages. This feature is also expected to be rolled out soon to beta users.

WhatsApp’s new ‘Remind Me’ feature offers a practical solution to an old problem. It not only enhances the overall messaging experience but also reduces the risk of missing important information. With future updates, WhatsApp may introduce even more user-friendly features, making the platform increasingly useful.
