Xiaomi is preparing to launch its next flagship smartphone lineup, the Xiaomi 16 Series, and fresh leaks have revealed significant upgrades in both front and rear camera systems. According to well-known tipster Digital Chat Station, the Xiaomi 16 and Xiaomi 16 Pro will receive major enhancements in camera hardware and performance, making them a compelling option for photography enthusiasts.
Xiaomi 16 Series Upgraded Selfie Camera
The upcoming Xiaomi 16 Series will feature a much more powerful front camera than its predecessor. While the previous generation offered a 32MP sensor, this time Xiaomi is reportedly equipping the devices with a 50MP front-facing camera. This sensor is expected to deliver superior low-light performance, enhanced autofocus, wide-angle capabilities, and support for 4K video recording at 60fps. These improvements will especially benefit video calls, vlogging, and nighttime selfies.
Xiaomi 16 Series Advanced Rear Camera Setup
The rear camera system will also see a significant upgrade. The Xiaomi 16 will come with a 50MP 1/1.3-inch main sensor offering larger pixel size for improved image clarity. The Xiaomi 16 Pro, on the other hand, will feature a 50MP 1/1.3-inch ultra-high dynamic range sensor, paired with a ToF sensor for better depth detection.
Xiaomi has further optimized its Leica co-branded imaging algorithms, promising more accurate colors and improved detail quality. For zoom capabilities, the standard variant is expected to feature a normal telephoto lens, while the Pro model may include a periscope telephoto system for extended optical zoom.
Display and Performance
The Xiaomi 16 will feature a 1.5K flat display, while the Pro variant will boast a higher-resolution 2K flat display. Both models are expected to house large-capacity batteries for all-day usage. Under the hood, the smartphones will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, featuring Oryon CPU architecture and an upgraded Adreno 840 GPU for smoother performance and better gaming capabilities.
Expected Launch Timeline
According to leaks, the Xiaomi 16 Series could make its debut by the end of September. While pricing details have not been confirmed, industry speculation suggests there might be a price increase compared to the previous generation due to the substantial hardware upgrades.
