According to Apple’s press release, the high blood pressure notification feature uses an optical heart rate sensor to analyze the vascular response to the user’s heart rate.

It runs continuously in the background, with an algorithm evaluating the data over a 30-day period. If persistent signs of high blood pressure are detected, the user is alerted.

This method enables long-term heart health tracking simply by wearing the watch, without any additional intervention.

It is important to note that this feature does not apply to individuals under 22 years of age, those with diagnosed hypertension, or pregnant women.

Apple hopes to provide users with potential early health warnings, helping them adjust their lifestyle habits and seek timely medical assistance when notifications are received, thereby reducing serious health risks.
