Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra’s camera specifications are disappointing

Samsung fans expecting a major camera upgrade in 2027 may need to temper their expectations.

The most exciting rumor points to Sony's new LYT-901 – a 1/1.12-inch 200-megapixel sensor that has been recently unveiled and is already being touted as the next big thing in Android photography.

However, tipster Ice Universe claims Samsung has no intention of opting for that sensor. It may sound predictable, given Samsung develops its own imaging hardware, but the clarification still matters.

Samsung has actually been reducing the size of its 200MP sensors with every new iteration since the very first model. That trend suggests we shouldn’t expect a near-1-inch (or even slightly larger) 200MP ISOCELL sensor anytime soon.

For anyone curious about the impact, smaller sensors packed with high pixel counts tend to capture a weaker, less precise signal, which usually translates to lower overall image quality.

This lines up with recent comparison tests, where the Galaxy S25 Ultra fell short against Chinese rivals like the Vivo X300 Pro.
