Samsung has officially begun rolling out the May 2025 security update for the carrier-locked models of its latest flagship lineup — the Galaxy S25 series — in the United States. While there were earlier reports suggesting a major firmware update was under testing, the current release focuses primarily on system security enhancements.

Software Versions for Galaxy S25 Models

Users in the U.S. have reported receiving the following updated firmware builds:

ModelFirmware Version
Galaxy S25S931USQS3AYDF
Galaxy S25+S936USQS3AYDF
Galaxy S25 UltraS938USQS3AYDF

Although Samsung has not yet released detailed patch notes on its official Mobile Security page, this rollout appears to be part of the brand’s routine monthly security maintenance. According to sources like SammyFans, the company was initially testing a more substantial firmware update for the S25 series, but that version has been shelved for now in favor of this smaller, security-centric release.

Upcoming Updates and Broader Availability

Looking ahead, larger feature updates for the Galaxy S25 series may arrive starting June 2025 or later. The series runs One UI 7 based on Android 15 out of the box, and it’s expected to be among the first to receive One UI 8 by the end of the year — likely alongside new feature enhancements and system upgrades.

As of May 2, 2025, the May security patch is only confirmed for U.S. carrier models. Models in other regions, including Japan, are still running older patches. For example, the Japanese version of the Galaxy S25 Ultra was confirmed to be on the March 2025 security patch as of this writing, meaning international users may need to wait longer for this update to reach their devices.

Samsung has also recently pushed the April 2025 update to other Galaxy devices running One UI 7, indicating the company continues its commitment to regular security support across its product range.
