Vivo has officially unveiled its much-anticipated S19 Series, capturing attention with a strong emphasis on portrait photography and innovative lighting technology. The announcement came from Jia Jingdong, Vice President of Vivo and General Manager of Brand and Product Strategy, who introduced the new lineup under the elegant theme “Portrait Light, Beauty from the East.” One of the most impressive features is the introduction of the studio zoom soft light ring, which Vivo calls the most intelligent of its kind to date.
This new lighting system dynamically adjusts both the range and focus of the light emitted based on the zoom level of the camera lens. For example, when using the main camera for a close-up, the soft light ring emits a wide, diffused glow to evenly illuminate the scene. When switching to the telephoto lens, the ring focuses into a narrow beam, precisely lighting distant objects. This allows for ideal light distribution, realistic textures, and accurate color temperature across various shooting conditions, mimicking professional studio setups right from the smartphone.
In terms of camera technology, the Vivo S19 Series takes a bold leap forward by being the first to feature the 50MP Sony IMX921 sensor, along with a 50MP Sony telephoto portrait lens. On the front, Vivo has integrated a powerful wide-angle dual soft-light selfie camera with advanced anti-distortion features, enhancing both solo and group selfies.
Aesthetically, Vivo emphasizes a sense of cultural beauty through the color options of the S19 Series, which include Smoke and Rain Green, Pine Smoke Ink, and Peach Blossom. These colorways reflect elegance and serenity, in line with the brand’s refined image.
As for the hardware, the standard Vivo S19 is rumored to feature a flat-screen design with a plastic center frame, powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor. It comes equipped with a 50MP GNJ 1/1.56″ OIS main camera at the rear, alongside an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and includes a soft ring light for improved portrait illumination. The device is also fitted with a massive 6000mAh battery and supports 80W fast charging, promising extended usage with quick top-ups.
The Vivo S19 Pro steps up the game with a dual-curved display, although it retains the plastic center frame. It runs on the more powerful Dimensity 9200 processor and features a 50MP IMX921 VCS 1/1.56″ OIS large sensor as the main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP IMX816 mid-focus telephoto camera that supports up to 50x digital zoom. It also includes the advanced zoom soft ring light to further enhance portrait photography from a distance. The Pro variant is powered by a slightly smaller 5500mAh battery but maintains the same 80W fast charging capability.
